In The U.S.

america.jpg Write to your State officials and tell them you don’t want your energy dollars spent on large scale/storage hydro.

Specifically tell them you do not want to import power from Hydro-Quebec which comes from destroying rivers such as the Rupert River, flooding the boreal forest, raising mercury levels and generating greenhouse gases such as potent methane.

Insist on truly green energy sources such as wind power, run-of-river hydro, solar, bioenergy or other green alternatives.

Buying imported large scale hydro power is as environmentally destructive as buying domestic power from a coal-fired power plant without pollution controls.

In Canada:

canada.jpg Write to your Member of Parliament and insist they call for an immediate halt to the destructive Rupert River construction by Hydro-Quebec.

Demand a new environmental assessment based on ALL the facts and green energy alternatives.

Insist that your MP say “No” to a project which is destroying Canada’s environment and the health of Canadians.

In Quebec:

quebec.jpg Write to your Member of the Quebec National Assembly and demand a halt to the Rupert River diversion.

Tell your MNA that you want Quebec to be a green energy leader. It is time to stop destroying Quebec’s majestic rivers and lands to produce unwanted dirty energy from large-scale hydro.

Does your MNA know the Rupert River project produces as much mercury as a coal-fired power plant? That it will be a major contributor to global warming from greenhouse gases such as methane through turbine churn and flooding of the boreal forest?
